The days were getting longer and the nights were becoming shorter as spring phased into summer. The temperature was rising and the sun seemed to get closer and closer with each passing day. Sleep was becoming something harder to get, especially at this time of the year. Despite the heat, every night you would tuck in with Eren and try to make the most of your time together. Now that he was in the Scout Regiment and working with Captain Levi and Commander Smith, your meetings were short and scarce.
And now as you entered Eren's room, which was cut off from everyone else's at the Headquarters in fear that he may become a Titan in the night (which never did happen), a sense of tire and drowsiness hit you like a brick wall. You flopped down on the bed, tugging off your leather boots and uniform, and slipped into the cotton sheets. Eren was already laying in the bed, a sleepy look upon his face as he turned and gazed at you. His turquoise eyes were dulled with exhaust and his eye-lids were heavy with sleep. "Hey," he whispered, as if he was trying not to break the spell of weariness among the two of you.
You smiled at him, "Hi."
"So, how was your day?" He initiated the nightly conversation that was always had. You exchanged thoughts and stories of the day, like Jean falling off his horse into a pile of animal droppings, or Hange spilling a chemical all over Levi. There was always some sort of comical story to be shared.
"Tiring, my whole squad had to run 50 laps because Azrael started a food fight in the dining hall. I still smell like morning stew." You giggled. Eren in turn quietly chuckled. "Now how was your day?" You asked, snuggling up to your love.
He sighed, "More tests. Headquarters wants my Titan abilities to be conscious and controlled." His lips curved into a small smile, "The highlight of this whole day has been knowing you were going to be here again tonight." Eren pulled you close into his arms, putting his face into your (color) locks. "I'm really glad you're with me now."
"Me too." Was all you said for awhile. Outside, the chirping of crickets and cicadas could be heard. The muffled sound along with Eren's steady breathing lulled you into a dream-like state. You yawned, and put your head into the crook of Eren's neck, smiling into his olive skin. "Good night, sleepy head."
And as you fell asleep to the sound of your slowly beating heart's, you wished the night would never end.

That wasn't his signature scent, for that scent was the smell of the bed sheets in the morning and coffee on the balcony, but whenever I smelled it I thought of him.
